POTTERY & CERAMICS: St. Cuthbert’s Centre, Crook
Janette – Participant:
After retiring from work last July, I moved to this area to be nearer my daughter and her family. I had worked in the same job for over 30 years, lived in the same house with my husband and had a wonderful network of friends and colleagues. I found the move to be a huge upheaval, coming to a new house, a new environment. It was a total life change… starting again and it scared me.
My daughter, knowing the area, and some of the organisations that run activities, she bought me this course as a Christmas gift. Even though I’d worked all my life I felt that I needed something to boost my confidence again and this course has been the ticket!
The tutor used a gentle approach and the course felt informal even though we all learnt so much… what a wonderful way to teach. It’s been lovely getting to know other participants, and I really feel that that has been the most worthwhile part of this course, making new friends, having a fun couple of hours each week.
The creative process has almost been secondary to all of that. I have, however, been very productive, making coasters, a wall plaque, tea light holders, dishes for crisps and nuts and a candleholder for the garden… all in 10 weeks ! THANK YOU
